Horry County Jail Roster Overview

The official county custody search is the Horry County bookings and releases app. It covers individuals booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center and people booked by the City of North Myrtle Beach. The app is a booking and release tool, not a final criminal case database. A person may appear with charges, bail, and release status before the related court record has reached its final disposition.

The roster is strongest for recent county jail custody. It may show a person who is still incarcerated, released, or out to home detention. It does not replace the Horry Trial Court Public Index for court filings, the South Carolina Department of Corrections search for sentenced state custody, or the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator for federal custody.

The J. Reuben Long Detention Center page is the county source for the detention facility behind the roster.

That detention-center source matters because it separates local jail booking records from state prison, federal custody, and final court case records.

Search Horry County Inmate Records

The booking app is a JavaScript search tool. It can load current bookings by default, and it accepts a focused search when the user has a last name or booking/release date. Results should be read with care because booking charge status can change after court review, bond action, dismissal, discharge, expungement, or transfer.

1. Open the Horry County bookings and releases app and let the search screen load with JavaScript enabled.
2. Enter a last name, booking date, release date, or a mix of available fields. Last-name searches work best when the spelling is close to the roster display.
3. Review each matching booking row for name, age, sex, booking number, arresting agency, booking date, release date, and charge list.
4. Select the mugshot thumbnail when available to view the larger modal with name, booked date, current status, and record navigation.
5. Verify current bond, court date, or final case status with the detention center, bond court, Clerk of Court, Public Index, magistrate court, or municipal court as needed.

Note: A booking record can show "Pre-Trial," "Discharged," or "No Charges Listed," but final case outcome belongs in the court record.

Horry County Booking Search Fields

The county booking app uses a small set of search fields. The inspected app submits last name, booking date, release date, and county value to the search endpoint. That narrow field set is useful for a quick roster check, but it means broad searches may return more than one person or miss a person if the name spelling or date is wrong.

Horry County Inmate Profile Fields

Horry County booking results can include more detail than a plain name list. The inspected public booking records showed mugshot identifiers, booking numbers, arresting agencies, home-detention status, charges, bail, dispositions, and counts. Agencies observed in sample data included Horry County Police, South Carolina Highway Patrol, Conway Police, Myrtle Beach Police, Loris Police, Surfside Beach Police, Aynor Police, and the Sheriff's Office.

Horry County Detention Contact

J. Reuben Long Detention Center is the county jail facility tied to the booking app. The Sheriff's Office says the detention center operates with a mission of safe, secure custody, direct supervision principles, professional staff, and recidivism reduction through partnerships. It is also tied to a local in-house drug treatment and reentry program described by the Sheriff's Office.

Bond and Release Records

Bond details in inmate records should be checked against the jail and court because the roster is only one view. The county bond page says Magistrate Office hours are Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., with after-hours bonds handled through the Booking Office. Accepted bond methods include cashier's check or money order made out to the county where the person is held, exact cash, a certified bonding company, or card payment through GovPayNow.

Card payments require the inmate name, case number, charge amount, and Pay Location Code 5500. The county notes that a service fee may run up to 7 percent. For Cash and Dash eligible bondable pay offenses, the person pays the full bond in exact cash plus a $20 Bond Court fee, but the court appearance is still required after release.

Deposit rules are separate from bond rules, so money added for commissary does not by itself resolve a court bond or ticket obligation.

Horry County Inmate Visitation

Horry County uses NCIC for inmate video visitation. A visitor must be listed on the inmate's visitation form before approval, and approval can take up to 24 hours. County kiosk visits are limited to one 10-minute visit per inmate per day from listed visitors. Remote video visits are available seven days a week until 11 p.m. Eastern time and cost $0.25 per minute.

Visitation data belongs with custody records because a release, transfer, or home-detention status can change whether a scheduled visit still applies.

Horry County Inmate Funds

Each inmate receives an account after booking. Funds may be used for commissary purchases. The detention center lobby has a cash-only kiosk with a $3 transaction fee, and money posted through the kiosk is listed by the county as posting within 15 minutes. The county caps that kiosk channel at no more than $100 in a 24-hour period.

U.S. Postal Money Orders may be mailed to the inmate's full name at 4150 J. Reuben Long Avenue, Conway, SC 29526. Western Union Quick Collect is another published option, but the county tells users to call 843-915-5140 for the company name, city code, state, inmate name, and booking number details needed for that channel. A full personal-mail rules page was not located in the inspected official sources, so specific scanned-mail or tablet rules should not be assumed.

State Federal and Mobile Inmate Searches

County jail records stop being the main source when a person is transferred to state prison or federal custody. The SCDC incarcerated inmate search covers sentenced South Carolina Department of Corrections inmates. Its fields include SCDC ID, SID, first name, last name, and a phonetic-match option, with results that can show name, sex, race, height, weight, age, photo, institution, offense county, projected maxout, parole fields, and sex-offender flags when populated.

SCDC is a state-prison record source, so a person held pretrial at J. Reuben Long may not appear there.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator is the official federal custody search channel. It is separate from Horry County, SCDC, and the Circuit Court Public Index.

Federal custody can follow a federal case, supervised release issue, or transfer that will not be resolved by the county jail roster.

The Sheriff's Public Information Office page also advertises the HCSO mobile app. County material says the app lets users see who is in jail, search the sex offender registry, view county most wanted, connect to Sheriff's Office social media, submit crime tips, and more. Direct store URLs were not captured in the research, so the app should be treated as a parallel mobile channel without naming unverified store links.

When none of the online custody tools answers the question, the access channel depends on the record. Current county custody questions go to the detention center. Sheriff records that are not visible online route through the Sheriff's Public Information Office request process, subject to South Carolina public-record limits and law-enforcement exemptions. Final charge outcomes, fines, and court dates should be checked in the Public Index or with the court named on the booking, warrant, or ticket paperwork.
